Writing Column in a Newspaper

A column is a periodic article in a newspaper, magazine or other publication. It is generally written on a fixed subject and has a fixed point of view. The personal opinion of a column writer or columnist is expressed on a subject in a column. The columnist will be an expert in the field which he/she writes a column. Column writing generally have a fixed style of writing.

There are also columns in newspapers where a number of column writers contribute together. In some columns the columnist writes on a variety of subjects. Columns are on various subjects like culture, politics, sports, films, economics, books, etc. Columns generally appear once in a week.

Some types of columns are Advice column, Book review, Community correspondent, Critic’s reviews, Editorial opinion, Fashion column, Food column.
